Clinical profile of children assisted at a specialized rehabilitation center in a municipality of the Recôncavo of Bahia
Abstract
In recent years, there has been an increase in the incidence of childhood pathologies related to the pre, peri and postnatal period, causing neuromotor changes that are detected and treated by the physiotherapist. The objectives of this study were to describe the clinical profile of pediatric patients seen at a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER) in a municipality in Bahia and to list the main physical therapy procedures used. This is a quantitative, descriptive-retrospective study by analyzing medical records, with patients from the “Pediatric Physiotherapy” sector of CER, attended in the years 2018 to 2020, with a maximum age of 12 years. After approval by the Ethics and Research Committee, 50 medical records were analyzed and the following results were found: male predominance (64%), aged up to two years (54%), born in Cruz das Almas (50%), diagnosed prematurity (28%), followed by neuromotor diseases (24%). With regard to possible events that promote neurological changes, major complications were observed in the postnatal period. The most used conducts were early stimulation (34%) and the Bobath method with task-oriented training (24%). In conclusion, the identification of these conditions facilitates the stratification of risk groups and assists in the development of health promotion and protection strategies.
